Tackling domestic abuse is one of Humberside Police’s top priorities. If your partner is violent towards you or controlling – or you know someone who is in this kind of relationship – please call them on 101 or 999 in an emergency.
Domestic abuse can happen to anyone – no matter their age, gender, sexuality or background.
What’s important is that you know that someone will listen and will act. No one needs to fear going to the police to report domestic abuse.
Call handlers are also trained to deal with your situation and will always be sympathetic and understanding. You can speak without fear or prejudice and in confidence.
They can also work with other agencies that can help to plan a way forward that works for you and your family.
If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic abuse, then it may help to make a safety plan, so that you know what to do if you need to.
If you’re in immediate danger, always call 999.
