NatWest Bank are being informed of reports nationally of a scam around moving money to a safe account.
NatWest customers are been contacted advising the funds in their accounts aren’t safe and a new account has been set up. Customers are being told to transfer money to this account, which is in their name. The organisations the fraudsters have picked don’t offer the payee confirmation check that other banks now do so it doesn’t flag up when the account isn’t in that person’s name.
They also have instances of fake statements being sent to the customer to prove that the account is real.
This is just something to be aware of and remember that a bank would never call customers and ask them to move their money elsewhere and certainly wouldn’t open an account for anyone without their permission.
