This is a unique opportunity to join the Domestic Abuse Services who are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and dynamic Domestic Abuse Men’s Practitioner.
The Domestic Abuse Men’s Practitioner role is twofold in that they are responsible for providing an effective trauma informed support and advice service to male victims referred to the DAP service, and also work alongside the Strength to Change Project team providing effective high-quality services to men who are domestically abusive to their partners and ex partners.
You must have previous experience of direct work with victims affected by domestic abuse or safeguarding adults or children. Have previous experience of working with men on a 1-1 basis and facilitating group work.
You will have knowledge of specialist risk assessment tools and screening tools which are used to inform practice and decision making in order to ensure appropriate information sharing to safeguard victims and their children. The post holder is expected to work in line with the Respect National Service and Safe Lives Service Standards and be able to demonstrate an awareness and understanding of the Duluth power and control methodologies, power differentials and inequalities between men and women and the effects that domestic abuse has on victims and their children.
You will also hold effective organisational skills and have the ability to work using own initiative along with enhanced communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills as the Domestic Abuse Men’s Practitioner role requires you to provide advice and guidance to other professionals.
Having an informed understanding of safeguarding children and adults is essential.
