16th June 2023Humber & North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance holding Cervical Cancer awareness session
To mark Cervical Screening Awareness Week (Monday 19th June – 24th June) Humber and North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance are supporting Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust campaign to raise awareness of NHS Cervical Screening by offering free bitesize cervical screening awareness sessions.
Cervical cancer is the most preventable cancer and cervical screening can help identify changes in your cervix and the cells, before cervical cancer starts, yet almost one in three people with a cervix don’t take up their cervical screening invite.
Along with Jo’s Trust, they want everyone to have the support and facts they need to feel comfortable to access cervical screening. That’s why we’ve put together a bitesize session to teach people about:
- the signs and symptoms of cervical cancer
- Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and the HPV vaccination programme
- what happens at a cervical screening test
- hints, tips and experiences that will help women and people with a cervix feel more able to book a test
The following sessions will be available:
Monday 19th June at 10:00
Monday 19th January at 6.30pm
Tuesday 20th June at 2pm
Wednesday 21st June at 3pm
Thursday 22nd June at 12noon
Friday 23rd at June 3.30pm
Following the success of their last bitesize sessions, if the above dates are filled, then further sessions will be added. Please let them know if you cannot attend these and would like to be made aware of further sessions.
These sessions are open to anyone living or working in Humber and North Yorkshire. To reserve your place, please visit the Eventbrite booking page.
