Hull Food Partnership are looking for a Food Inequality Officer to help fight against food inequality in Hull.
Who we are
Hull Food Partnership is part of the UK Sustainable Food Places (SFP) network and works in collaboration with the city farm Rooted in Hull. By driving system change and working with the many local delivery projects already in place, Hull Food Partnership is developing a recognised strategic and collaborative approach to good food governance and action in the city.
About the post
Funding has been awarded to Hull Food Partnership by Reckitt and Hull City Council to maintain a Food Insecurity Officer post in Hull with the aim of creating a joined-up approach to tackling food poverty, food insecurity and the wider financial exclusion issues that lead to food poverty across the city and start to consider realistic and working solutions.
There is a fundamental need to support well-being and health for everyone. It is critically important that everyone is able to access affordable, healthy food, appropriate for their cultural, religious and dietary needs on a daily basis.
The main role of the Food Inequality Officer will be to build on and strengthen past work through the development of the Hull Food Inequality Alliance, actively engaging with wide range of stakeholders and facilitating collaboration to develop a city-wide strategic Food Poverty Action Plan to address and mitigate the issues that contribute to food poverty.
We are seeking a committed self-starter who is able to bring their knowledge of the intersecting issues that people facing food poverty experience, and can mobilise positive change to tackle this. The postholder will be able to motivate individuals and organisations to get involved and bring their work to a wider audience using case studies and through developing resources.
This role will include working alongside the Hull Food Partnership Development Officer and Veg Cities Community Campaign Officer in embedding this work in the Hull Food Strategy and refreshing the Hull Food Action Plan and Hull Food Charter, ultimately gaining the Sustainable Food Places Silver Award.
