Targeting cycle theft hot spots in Hull is something Humberside Police and the Neighbourhood Network are keen to tackle. 85% of cyclists who use these locations stand a higher chance of their cycles being stolen, due to the cyclist using a weak lock making it easier for the lock to be cut free.
This new cycle theft initiative, which is being co-ordinated by Humberside Police and managed by the Neighbourhood Network, has been created to provide appropriate cycle security advice, offer the benefits of property marking tools such as immobilise, and the opportunity to purchase a heavily discount quality D Lock.
Humberside Police are contacting cycle theft victims to establish whether the victim would be replacing the cycle and if so advice would be given on cycle security for their new purchase. They would also have the opportunity to purchase a heavily discounted D lock from the Neighbourhood Network offices were the transaction would take place.
For those who have been a victim of cycle crime and have a recent crime number the lock can be supplied with a minimum donation of £6.00, and for those who would like to upgrade their own cycle security but are lucky enough not to have been a recent victim of cycle crime, then the lock can be offered with a minimum donation of £11.50. Customers can collect the cycle locks from the Neighbourhood Network offices located at the Bespoke Centre on Wawne Road or home delivery can be made in Hull for an additional fee of £3.50.
All profits from the D locks will be reinvested back into the initiative by the Neighbourhood Network.
If you would like to take advantage of purchasing a discounted cycle lock, please contact the Neighbourhood Network on Tel: 01482 826061 or e-mail: email@example.com
