Following public consultation it was found that there were barriers to some people being involved with ‘Neighbourhood Watch’ albeit their role being recognised as vital within communities by enabling residents to work together to solve problems directly affecting them. A decision was made to encompass ANY group active within a community with a community safety remit/interest. Groups included; Business Watches, Allotment Associations, Resident Associations, Churches, Schools. A wider and more accessible support body – The Neighbourhood Network was born, with the concept and remit process being put into place in April 2011. During 2011 Neighbourhood Network staff where recruited, with these being originally seconded from Humberside Police. Decisions were made as to the company’s purpose, communication methods and priorities including the decision to produce regular safety bulletins and a monthly ward based safety update. An official launch of the Neighbourhood Network was held in November 2011.
