8th March 2024Free Liver Health Awareness Training Session
Join the British Liver Trust on Wednesday, May 15th at 11 am on Teams for an enlightening session featuring Louise Parker, an outreach development officer from the British Liver Trust.
Louise will delve into the UK’s liver disease crisis, emphasising the importance of raising awareness, discussing the three preventable risk factors, offering tips on how to ‘Love your Liver’, and providing information about the free support available for those affected by liver conditions.
Why is raising awareness crucial? Liver disease remains a silent killer, and its prevalence is on the rise. Shockingly, in the UK alone, there are more than 10,000 deaths attributed to liver disease annually. Contrary to popular belief, alcohol is not the sole preventable risk factor, with nine out of ten cases potentially avoidable.
Furthermore, death rates have quadrupled over the last 50 years, affecting over 600 thousand individuals in the UK, with one in five of us at risk of developing a serious liver condition. Alarmingly, liver disease is now the leading cause of death among those aged 35-49. Hence, raising awareness is paramount, as early diagnosis can be a lifesaver.
