Welcome house are pleased to announce two new job opportunities.
Job Title: Office Administrator
Part–time, Fixed term – 2 years – October 2023 to September 2025 (18 hours per week)
Main Purpose: Performing administrative duties for the smooth running of Welcome House and providing support. The job will be to review, design and implement administrative systems to help the organisation become more efficient.
The list of key functions is below and training and support will be given where needed:
- Office administration, filing, letter writing, form filling, etc;
- Assisting in the creation & distribution of publicity materials to increase awareness, provide information and widen participation;
- Meeting preparation and minute taking for the Trustee Committee and other meetings;
- Supporting the research and implementation of new systems and processes.
- Maintaining Welcome House external communications function, including email bulletins, website, and social media platforms;
- Maintaining oversight of Welcome House’s online HR system, including Annual Leave requests and sickness absence;
- Maintaining oversight of organisational compliance with GDPR requirements, including audit and review as and when required;
- Overseeing the induction of new employees across the organisation;
- Management of IT systems and processes, including the external IT support contract and other external contracts and the building maintenance;
- Ordering of office equipment as and when required;
- Providing practical project management support to identified projects within Welcome House, including setting up systems, communicating with project-specific suppliers and tracking progress against targets;
- Collating evidence of project impact, including developing feedback mechanisms, writing up session feedback, and creating reports;
- Supporting the General Manager in reviewing internal policies and processes as required;
- To promote the principles and practices of equality and social inclusion in all aspects of the work;
- To participate in relevant training and continuing professional development activity as agreed with the line management;
- To participate in and contribute to Welcome house staff meetings, and internal organisational development events; and
Salary: £13,000pa, (£250 per week), based on £13.88 an hour for an 18-hour week. Hours to be worked over 4 or 5 days, to be agreed. 28 days holiday a year. (Some flexibility over school holidays).

Job Title: Volunteer Coordinator:
Two-year fixed term contract (October 23 – September 25)
Part–time – Two posts (one responsible for the Welcome Desk and Kitchen – and one responsible for induction, training, and DBS)
1: 10 hours per week
2: 8 hours per week.
Are you passionate about supporting Volunteers/ asylum seekers and refugees? You will be responsible for recruiting, training, and offering emotional support to our fantastic group of volunteers, who help and assist the delivery of the tasks to the asylum seekers and refugees who need it across Hull and East Riding.
Key Functions
- Recruit, build and maintain relationships with a wide range of volunteers from different cultures and background.
- Complete a volunteer induction pack and deliver appropriate induction and basic training in readiness for volunteering in the Welcome House environment.
- Be the ‘go to’ for all volunteer concerns and queries and maintain a visible presence within the charity.
- Promote volunteering, internally and externally in collaboration with the local VCSE sector to ensure that the impact of volunteers is celebrated.
- Develop and inspire volunteers to develop best possible practice to meet the needs of the Welcome House.
- Encourage volunteers attend team meetings and events where appreciate, in order to maintain good communication within the service.
- Ensure volunteers are screen and DBS checked, respond appropriately to any safeguarding concern and the management of risk.
- Arranging and managing a team of volunteers for the Welcome Desk and Kitchen.
Salary: £13.88 an hour for an 18-hour week. Hours to be worked over 2 or 3 days, to be agreed. 28 days holiday a year. (Some flexibility over school holidays).
