During the Hull City of Culture year, we wanted to take advantage of this amazing opportunity and capture a selection of our unique Neighbourhood Network members which rarely receive recognition for the work they do within their communities, celebrating their achievements and telling their stories in a creative way.
By producing a short film and a series of still images, we hope to engage with our groups and for them to tell their stories on how they are overcoming issues and making a real difference within their own communities.
This will bring stories to life, create a piece of history and inspire others to learn and develop, sharing good practice around the city of Hull.
It is hoped that the film produced will capture a real appreciation of the Neighbourhood Network members contribution to safer communities in Hull and showcase and celebrate the uniqueness of the Neighbourhood Network.
We launched the film and a series of images at our annual awards ceremony on 24th October 2017 which falled perfectly within the ‘Tell the world’ season of Hull 2017. From this launch we want to use the still images produced to create a mini travelling exhibition. It is hoped we can present the images in the heart of the Hull Communities for the public to enjoy. We plan to initially hold 10, 4 week exhibitions using some of our member organisations and other venues in Hull that would like to showcase these images. It might be that these images can continue to travel within the communities further spreading the awareness of the Neighbourhood Network throughout 2018 and beyond.
Sponsored by The Big Lottery, we are now pleased to showcase our film, a collection of individual short films will also be produced to showcase the groups and activities which we captured during film, these are to be released over the coming weeks.
