28th July 2023Crimestoppers: County Lines Campaign.
Crimestoppers has launched a new campaign today to combat the exploitation of children and vulnerable people by criminal gangs through County Lines.
Their campaign covers signs to spot and what to do if you have information about possible County Lines activity.
The Children’s Commissioner for England believes that at least 27,000 children are County Lines gang members, with 4,000 in London alone.
For individuals with information about County Lines activity, they should know that when you contact Crimestoppers, you stay 100% anonymous. Always.
This campaign will run on social media from 13 June – 09 August 2023.
Their campaign aims to:
Educate on what County Lines is and how to spot the warning signs of involvement, in order to help protect communities.
Solve the challenges with information from the public not reaching the relevant authorities (as people may not want to be identified in the process) by providing an anonymised service, which the public can use to provide information securely without fear of reprisals, and without having to appear in court in relation to the case.
Support crime reduction across communities, through national social media adverts focussing on telling us what you know, 100% anonymously.
Prevent the loss of useful and actionable information from reaching the relevant law enforcement authorities.
