A Summer to Remember at Neighbourhood Network
What an amazing summer we have had here at Neighbourhood Network!
Although summer can sometimes mean things are a little quieter at the centre, particularly with some of our usual activities such as our Social Club taking a well-earned break, it has certainly been anything but quiet for us!
We have been incredibly busy delivering activities through the Hull Healthy Holidays programme, welcoming over 100 children through our doors to cook, learn new skills, have fun and, most importantly, enjoy themselves. We have also had some fantastic sessions delivered by Movement to Music CIC and Hull KR Foundation, bringing energy, laughter and new experiences to our centre.
The quieter period has also given us something really valuable, the chance to pause and reflect. It has allowed us to look at how we work as a centre, think about our wider projects and how we can continue to improve what we offer to our community. We have also been able to tackle some much-needed maintenance and give the centre and surrounding areas a little bit of TLC.
But, as we look towards the end of summer, there is one thing we are finding particularly difficult to say...
28th August will be Katie Winter's last day at Neighbourhood Network.
Katie joined us back in 2018 as a Charity Support Officer, and over the years she has continued to develop and grow her role. She now plays a huge part in overseeing our charity operations, while proudly leading our Menopaus’ull initiative. During her time with us, Katie has achieved so much. She has been honoured with both the High Sheriff Award and the Lord Mayor's Award, and has also completed her Level 3 Team Leader Apprenticeship Qualification with a Distinction. These achievements are a real reflection of her commitment, knowledge and passion for the work she does.
We will undoubtedly miss Katie's professional knowledge, expertise and understanding of the charity and her role within it. But if we are being completely honest, that isn't what we will miss the most.
What we will miss most is Katie herself.
Her bubbly smile. Her welcoming laugh. Her positivity. Her ability to make people feel comfortable. And quite simply, her face being here.
Katie has been such a familiar and important part of Neighbourhood Network for so many years. She has supported countless people, helped develop projects, brought ideas to life and has given so much of herself to the centre and the community.
There will be a very noticeable Katie shaped hole around here, and we know she will be missed by staff, trustees, volunteers, partners and, most importantly, the many people whose lives she has touched.
Thank you for everything, Katie. We will miss you more than you know. ❤️
