Teenage girls arrested on suspicion of assault

Two teenage girls have been arrested on suspicion of assault following reports of videos circulating on social media in which a teenage boy is assaulted.

Detective Inspector Simon Vickers, who is leading the investigation, said: “The boy and his family are being supported by specialist officers and the circumstances of the incidents are being investigated.

“As part of the investigation the girls, who are aged 16 and 15 and cannot legally be identified, have been arrested and are helping us with our enquiries.

“We have also taken steps to have the videos removed and ask that they are not shared further, as to do so may be also be committing an offence.”
