23rd July 2019Do you know of a local hero?
24th July 2019Are you unemployed, aged over 18 and have a disability or health condition?
If the answer is yes and you would like to gain some progress towards employment, please read on.
‘Your Pathway’ is a programme designed to help unemployed people aged 18 years and over with a disability or health condition get the skills and work experience they need to progress towards employment.
Life and Loom work with the belief that shaping natural materials such as wool by hand into artisan products through a variety of traditional methods – for example; carding, spinning, dyeing, knitting, felting, sewing and weaving – can have a profound impact on the development of a person as a whole.
By being part of a social enterprise and engaging in handcraft, people learn more than purely academic and functional skills: they learn transferable work and life skills, and most importantly they learn to value themselves.
Their approach incorporates one day per week for 24 weeks in their safe and nurturing textile studio and is fully funded through the European Social Fund.
