Truck driver dies following incident near Howden

A driver has died after a large metal structure that he was carrying on the back of his truck fell on him. 

The incident happened last night Thursday 10 October on the westbound slip road of the M62 at Junction 37 at Howden Spur around 4pm. 

The driver had left his vehicle to secure the load after it came loose. A crane was brought in to assist, but the structure became detached from the back of the lorry and sadly fell on him.

He later died from his injuries. The driver’s family have been made aware and are being supported by officers. 

Police will not be releasing any details of the deceased man’s identity at this point. 

Teams will be supporting and working with the Health and Safety Executive to try and ascertain the circumstances surrounding this incident.
