Message From Humberside Police:-
Here at Humberside Police, we have a number of different schemes and initiatives to encourage young people to get involved activities to help them learn and grow and become active members of our community.
From volunteering as a mini police ambassador, to taking on a Lifestyle project with friends, to taking part in our annual Night Challenge, or even joining the police family as a cadet, there are loads of different ways young people can get involved in.
The younger generation play an important role in our communities and that is why we work hard to speak to them at every opportunity, teaching them about the work that we do but also encouraging them to think about ways that they can make a positive impact in their community.

That is why we have signed up to the #IWill campaign which aims to make young people participating in social action the norm.
This week is #IWillWeek 2019 which is all about celebrating the #PowerOfYouth and as part of that we will be doing a series of articles and social media posts celebrating the wonderful young people at Humberside Police.
Last week we had our 30th annual Lifestyle awards to celebrate the brilliant young people that spent their summer holidays completing projects that benefit their community in some way.
From renovating public spaces, to collecting donations for local food banks to hosting fundraising events for charities – the teams were definitely busy.
We caught up with some of them at the awards night to find out what they got from the project, here is what they said:

We decided to do Lifestyle as we wanted to do something good. Our favourite memory was painting rocks with disabled children. Our project made lots of people smile and brought people together. If someone was considering taking part in Lifestyle we would say “go for it” it is really worthwhile and you create great memories.
William from #PickUpPromise said:
I got involved with Lifestyle as I wanted to make a difference. I loved getting to go on the radio to talk about our project! I think we made a difference as we were able to reduce the amount of litter in our area. To someone considering lifestyle I’d say “do it!”
Eliot, Max, Erin & Poppy from Lifestyle Warriors said:
We registered for Lifestyle because we wanted to do something good in our summer holidays. We really enjoyed baking cakes, helping elderly people and getting to help out at the RSPCA. We also helped our area and made a difference by litter picking and cleaning up around the community. It was great fun.
Helen from The Caring Squad said:
I decided to do lifestyle because I wanted something to do in the summer. My favourite memory is just us all being together as a team. I think our project helped us make a difference to the elderly in our community!
