11th February 2020We need you – please tell us your stories of Scams and Fraud, so we can share and promote awareness

The Neighbourhood Network are a member of the Hull Fraud Forum which is being led by DS Robinson of Humberside Police. This is a proactive approach in helping reduce fraud and scams within the Humberside region.
Fraud crimes are becoming one of the fastest growing crime trends of all times with people more likely to be a victim of fraud than any other offence.
We would like to know if any of our members have been either a victim of a scam or fraud or have recently had an attempt of fraud happen to you.
We will then filter this information back to the Hull Fraud Forum to keep them informed of the most recent scams that are being used and in turn we will share any intelligence with NN members on scams that may be arising in the area.
The Neighbourhood Network partner with Humberside Police and other organisations such as Trading Standards, Hull City Council, Age UK, Victim Support to name a few and aim to:
- To promote fraud awareness throughout Hull
- To create an anti-fraud culture across the city by encouraging and developing anti-fraud strategies for people to utilise
- To promote the awareness of the signs that someone is vulnerable to becoming a victim of fraud and/or is the victim of a fraud
- Ensure that the residents of Hull are aware of the risk posed by fraud
- To raise awareness of the reporting procedure if a person believes they have been the victim of a fraud or an attempted fraud
- To support a wider Humber and regional response to fraud
Please send any information that may be useful for others to know over to us on office@nnetwork.org.uk
For more information about Fraud, visit the Friends against scams website, which showcases lots of information about the different types of scams out there, you can even become a Friends Against Scam ambassador by completing an online awareness session so you can then share your findings with friends and family helping people to become more aware and less likely to become a victim.

Take a look at the National Neighbourhood Watch scheme’s Cyberhood Watch initiative. This is a response to the growing challenge that cybercrime poses to local communities. Research has highlighted a general lack of confidence in talking about cybercrime experiences within the community, and in understanding the best methods of online protection, in particular for more vulnerable members of the population.
We would also like to encourage as many people as possible to report scams to ActionFraud, it is a simple process and can be done online, visit https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/
