Hull: Massive thank you for ‘sweet’ gesture

The East Hull Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) were overwhelmed with the kindness and support from their local community and businesses this week, when 1124 confectionery items were sent to the team at Preston Road Police Station following generous donations from the public and the Holderness Road Poundland store.

Customers have been making donations in the store to a specific organisation as a way to say thank you for their work during these unsettling times.

Poundland chose to donate to the Hull East Neighbourhood Team and over 3 days the store collected 562 donations from the community, which the store then doubled.

Neighbourhood Inspector for East Hull, Tony Towse said: “We’re very proud to be a part of the East Hull community and we are so grateful to the local shoppers and the Holderness Road store for their act of kindness.

“This unusual time has shown how communities can come together to be there for one another.

“We want to remind the community that just as they have been there for us with this generous donation, we are still there for them and are actively out in their areas to offer reassurance and keep them safe.
