8th June 2020Hull’s ‘Rubbish Friends’ community group remain active and would love you to be involved

Rubbish Friends in Hull is a community group of people who want to improve the local environment through litter-picking whilst making new friends and enjoying time outdoors. We have three main aims in improving people’s health and happiness:
• To bring people together with their neighbours to build community cohesion.
• To support people in enjoying exercise outdoors.
• To empower people to improve their local environment.
This Spring has brought about a pause to our activities and a needed space for reflection. This time and thought have resulted in this document and starting this conversation with you. We are making plans for the future and we would like you to be involved.
The following pages provide you with a bit more detail about our current areas of activity:
• Community litter picks
• Oak Road Wildlife Corridor •
“Guerrilla gardening”
• Road Verge Campaign.
How you can help
Crucially, we would appreciate help in spreading the word about Rubbish Friends in Hull so that more people and organisations can get involved and benefit from our activities.
To support us in meeting our aims we also need donations of:
• Loan of a petrol strimmer for sapling planting in November 2020.
• Loan of a petrol strimmer and rakes for sowing Yellow rattle seeds in September. • Compost and mulch for 420 saplings in November.
• Yellow rattle seeds for September.
• Bulbs, seeds and plants for “guerrilla gardening”. • Lots of compost and mulch.
• Materials such as paint for creating small signs from reclaimed materials.
