10th June 2020Hull Crime Reduction Fund Relaunched

The Safer Hull Partnership are offering grants of up to £10,000 for projects that reduce crime or support victims to not-for-profit groups across the city.
The Hull Crime Reduction Fund is open for applications now with a 31st July deadline for application in this first round of 2020/21.
The fund is administered by the Safer Hull Partnership with funding from the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.
Tracy Harsley, chair of the Safer Hull Partnership, said: “The partnership is committed to working with and supporting community groups and the Crime Reduction Fund is our way of equipping them to make a difference.
“We know community groups across Hull know their neighbourhood and service users safety priorities better than anyone. The Fund gives them the ideal opportunity to access funding that can address local need and make areas safer whether this is traditional crime prevention or new and unique ways of supporting victims or preventing reoffending.
By offering grassroots organisation this opportunity we can make Hull a safer place to live, work and visit.”
Previously funding projects have included providing targeted crime prevention to vulnerable members of the community, holding different types of youth engagement across Hull, support and mentorship for those with criminal convictions to get into employment and funding to support the Neighbourhood Watch movement in the city.
The Hull and Anglers Association were one of last years Crime reduction Fund recipients.
Derek Pye, Fisheries Officer & Youth Development Officer at Hull & District Anglers Association, said: “Support from the Crime Reduction Fund meant H&DAA could run 60 coaching sessions last summer, meaning nearly 1000 different young people could enjoy a positive outdoor activity, learning new skills and making new friends away from negative influences and behaviours.”
Another recipient of funding is was Neighbourhood Network. Sarah Weichardt from the charity said: “The Crime Reduction Fund has enabled the Neighbourhood Network (NN) to continue its work in supporting victims of crime, vulnerable people and communities across Hull. We remain the accessible local point of contact for residents, who are wanting to make positive changes within their communities such as setting up Neighbourhood Watch Groups. The NN team communicate key safety messages educating residents on crime trends and how to protect themselves, offering crime reduction equipment at reduced prices, along with running specific projects tailored to its member needs. Without support from the Community Reduction Fund the Neighbourhood Network could not have grown its membership and developed its services to what they are today’’.
Applications must support the Police and Crime plan and the Safer Hull Partnerships aims to reduce domestic abuse and violent behaviour, reduce offending and re-offending and support victims, vulnerable people and communities.
Police and Crime Commissioner for Humberside, Keith Hunter said: “One of the key aims of my police and crime plan is to deliver increasingly self-sustaining and safe communities. I have funded the Community Safety Partnership in Hull to ensure community groups have a local point of contact and I hope this latest round of funding will encourage a greater community involvement to tackle crime and safety.”
Applications to this fund will be assessed on an ongoing basis with decisions on awards in 2020/21 will be made in August, November and March.
Deadlines for applications are:
