18th August 2020Hull: Woman jailed following death of Ronald Portz

A woman who stabbed her partner with a knife, leaving him with fatal injuries, has today been jailed for six years.
On Monday 27 April, Sally Godwin, 29, of Dodthorpe, Hull pleaded guilty to manslaughter of Ronald Portz. She was remanded in custody for sentencing at a later date.
Today, Monday 17 August, at Sheffield Crown Court, Godwin has been sentenced to six years in jail.
The incident took place shortly after midnight on Saturday 9 November 2019 at their shared home address on Dodthorpe, Hull. Emergency services attended the address where Ronald Portz was pronounced deceased.
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Christine Calvert said: “This was a violent attack fuelled by alcohol which resulted in a man sadly losing his life.
“My thoughts remain with Ronald’s family through this incredibly difficult time. I hope that they feel a sense of justice following today’s sentencing.”
