22nd October 2020Volunteer Opportunities in Liaison and Diversion Community Links

Community Links Liaison & Diversion Service are welcoming applications for volunteers to assist their Support Time Recovery Workers (STRW) in the community.
The service accepts referrals from NHS colleagues based in Police Custody suites to support service users who have come into contact with the Criminal Justice System. The volunteer will assist the STRW’s by supporting the service user to access support services for vulnerabilities and support needs identified during initial screening and can include: Mental health problems, substance misuse, housing and benefits with the aim to reduce re-offending.
Under normal conditions, this could require accompanying the service user to attend appointments to existing services or simply meet up for a coffee and a chat to provide emotional support. The current COVID19 restrictions has meant that telephone consultation with the service user has been used with some success to reach out to those needing support, signposting or onward referral to specialist agencies throughout Hull and East Riding.
A full induction, training and mentoring will be provided.
For further details email: neil.rustill@commlinks.co.uk or phone 07552326908 for an informal chat.”
