Description
Big Local is a place-based investment programme supporting residents in 150 Big Local areas around England to lead change in their area.
Current Status: Open for Applications
Maximum value: Discretionary
Objectives of Fund
Local Trust is a place-based funder, which works with 150 Big Local areas, where people are making their communities even better places to live. At the heart of Big Local is a vision of empowered, resilient, dynamic, asset-rich communities making their own decisions on what is best for their area. Each area is different, and each Big Local area progresses at a different pace in involving people locally, forming a Big Local partnership and creating a plan.
Value Notes
A total of £1 million is available for each of the 150 Big Local areas.
A few areas operate local small grants schemes/commissioning opportunities.
Who Can Apply
Big Local is resident-led as residents know best what will make a real and meaningful difference to their areas and the people who live there.
Big Local empowers people to develop plans and find solutions that work for their communities, giving them the opportunity to try new ideas and become stronger through learning and overcoming challenges. Residents create a vision and Big Local plan for their area, which includes deciding on their priorities, what activities to run, who to work with and how the funding will be used over the 10 years.
Groups should check the map available on the Big Local website to find out if their location is eligible.
Restrictions
Local restrictions will apply.
Eligible Expenditure
Big Local has four outcomes:
- Communities will be better able to identify local needs and how to meet them.
- People will build their skills and confidence, enabling them to identify and respond to needs in the future.
- The community will make a real difference to what it believes are its most important needs.
- People will feel that their area is an even better place to live.
Each local area will have a different set of priorities for their area.
How To Apply
Organisations should first use the map on the website to find out if their location is eligible. They can then contact the local partnership for details on how to get involved and apply for funding.
