Hull: Man convicted of drugs and animal cruelty offences

Callum Pullen of Gainford Grove in Hull appeared in front of Hull Crown Court last week on drug dealing, violence and animal cruelty offences.

He was arrested in September 2020 on suspicion of dealing Cocaine in a Hull park and for a violent knife offence where a man was fortunate to narrowly avoid injury. 

He admitted the offences and has been sentenced to two years and ten months in jail.

When he was arrested in September 2021 his phone was seized and interrogated.  Investigating officers found sickening footage of a badger being violently attacked by Pullen’s dog, called ‘Pig’.

“Rural Task Force Sergeant Jenna Jones said, “This was an appalling cruel and savage act on a defenceless animal.  Pullen was heard taking delight in seeing his dog rip into the poor badger. 

“He used his dog a fighting weapon to cause harm to another animal for his own sickening entertainment and recorded it to re-watch later.  

“This case highlights the link between criminal lifestyle and violent offences to both humans and animals. It is clear that Callum Pullen has no regard for law and order. 

“I’m very pleased that he received custodial sentence for the Animal Welfare Act and Badger Act offences (two months for each) and an indefinite ban from keeping any animal. This will prevent any other poor animal suffering brutality from Pullen in the future. ”
