Pro-Rata Salary: £8000 p.a. (FTE £20,000)
Hours of work: 14 hours per week, which must include Fridays. Remaining hours can be worked flexibly across the week
Downright Special supports children with Down syndrome, their families and the professionals who work with them across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire. The charity has been growing steadily with an ever-increasing number of families accessing their services and an increase in the number of schools requesting input from their specialist teaching staff.
This steady growth, and future plans mean that they now have a need for support with leading the day-to-day tasks of running the charity. The Assistant Charity Manager will:
- Work closely with the Charity Manager to deliver the strategic objectives of the charity and will deputise for the Charity Manager during periods of absence
- Organise and ensure the smooth running of events including our regular Downright Special Friday play and education sessions.
- Lead on communication including website, social media, emails to families
- Liaise with parents, maintaining good relationships with the families supported by the charity.
- Undertake the recruitment and management of volunteers
- Lead on specific projects as required
They are looking for someone who:
- Is a strong advocate for Downright Special and the potential of children and young people with Down syndrome
- Is able to work in a supportive manner with parents, carers and children with Down syndrome
- Has excellent communication skills (written and spoken) in both formal and informal situations.
- Is confident in the use of social media
- Has excellent organisational skills and has an accurate, methodical, and thorough approach to work
- Is a highly motivated self-starter with ability to work flexibly and on own initiative
