The Night Challenge project is something different, it gives young people the chance to step outside their comfort zone, challenge themselves and learn about how they can help themselves and others. Whilst our primary aims are to reduce crime and ASB by engaging with our communities who are the most vulnerable; we also aim to give young people the skills to support not only themselves but others too during difficult times, we want to work together with our partners to help create resilient communities, giving young people the confidence to tackle challenges and achieve – all whilst walking a 12 mile route in the dark!
In 2022, the event will be based around the theme of youth mental health and the importance of seeking help when you or someone you know might need some support. This will include information about drug and alcohol misuse and the impact this can have as sometimes those who are struggling may turn to substances to help them cope. The event itself also helps to get young people outside and enjoying the environment around them and by being active and engaging in group activities it will help to help develop communication skills, the ability to work as a team and learn more about themselves.
