Hull: Man sentenced for murder
4th January 2022Hull: Opportunistic thieves in violent robbery jailed

Two men have been convicted at Hull Crown Court earlier in the week of a robbery at a shop on Endyke Lane, Hull, in July, receiving a total of eight-and-a-half years between them.
Kristian Whitfield, 32 of no fixed abode and James Urquhart, 35, of Faraday Street followed a man into a shop punching and kicking him until he was on the floor. They then grabbed a gold chain from around his neck, making off from the scene in a black Volkswagon car.
The victim suffered injuries to his eye requiring hospital treatment, but these thankfully weren’t serious. He was, however, understandably shaken from this terrifying ordeal.
Whitfield and Urquhart received four-and-a-half and four years in prison respectively.
Detective Sergeant Andy Bradley said: “Whitfield and Urquhart are cowardly, opportunistic thieves who weren’t willing to let anything come between them and what they wanted from this victim.
“Being a victim or witness to a robbery can be incredibly traumatic, even more so when the offenders resort to violence.
“I commend the bravery of the victim and hope this sentencing provides him with some form of comfort.
“Anyone who commits offences of this nature will be robustly dealt with and have to face the serious consequences, like in this case, for their actions.”
