Be aware of parcel delivery fraud!

The biggest, and most common scam of 2023 has been Parcel delivery fraud. In 2023, 50% of the people targeted by scammers having found themselves involved in delivery scams.

Those who are targeted by delivery fraud will receive messages or emails from people claiming to be from delivery companies like Amazon, FedEx, and more. They’ll then send a message to reschedule, or pay additional delivery fees, to get people’s bank details or personal information.

The scammers send these kinds of messages out to numerous people across the country. Thankfully, 79% of those happened to immediately know it was fake. However, people still fell victim to these scammers, and they could target you next.

What to do if you have one of these messages:

• Don’t click the links! If you’ve been sent one of these messages, and they have a link, do not click on the link. If the link doesn’t match the company name, i.e., if they’re saying they’re Amazon, but it’s an email that doesn’t match the company. But, if you receive any links, take no notice of them!
• If you see it, report it! If you have one of these messages, forward these messages to 7726, it’s free and this will report the message to your mobile phone provider. Or forward any suspicious emails to report@phishing.gov.uk, and the National Cyber Security Centre will investigate.
