With autumn nights drawing in, Humberside Fire and Rescue Service is reminding everyone to take extra care during local events like Hull Fair and Halloween. If you have young people in the house who are planning to attend evening events, please share our safety tips below.
Safety reminders for young people:Always go out in groups of at least three and stick together.Carry a torch and, if possible, a fully charged phone.Agree your route with a parent or guardian beforehand.Use pedestrian crossings and wear something reflective to stay visible.
If you’re out trick-or-treating:Only visit homes that are well-lit or decorated – never go into a stranger’s house.Avoid knocking on doors of older or vulnerable residents, as they may not enjoy Halloween as much as you do.Stick to visiting friends, family, or nearby neighbours.
Stay visible. Stay safe. Enjoy the season.
