Hull City Council have been given £1.245 million to buy and fit technology equipment to help people with learning disabilities live more independently in their homes.
A show home is now open for you to look round and try the equipment so you can pick what you need. Professionals, support staff, care staff and social workers are all be able to look round and help people choose what works best for them.
They will be:
- Fitting equipment into council run residential care homes Pennine, Park View and Preston Road once people have selected what they want from the show home.
- Fitting 10 new flats with equipment chosen from the show home by the new resident.
- Fitting 10 existing council homes with equipment chosen from the show home by the new or existing, tenant.
- Then they will fit out another 30 more homes.

The Council know that supporting you to use the new equipment to make it a part of your everyday life is very important. So this is not just about the technology; there will be other support to make you feel part of your chosen community.
You need evidence of a ‘learning disability’ to apply and they are looking for people now who might benefit from this type of equipment fitted in a home.
