Important: How the Neighbourhood Network manages your data

From 25^th May a new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into effect and here at the Neighbourhood Network we wanted to inform you in simple terms what this will mean on how we handle your data and what you should do as a Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator with the data you hold for your members.

Neighbourhood Network

To enable the Neighbourhood Network to undertake it’s work, we hold contact details of all of our members. This is so we can support members in connecting them with appropriate community safety partners, and to make members aware of community safety messages through our weekly newsletters and offer other support depending on the members needs.  

The member information we hold includes; Group name, main contact name, address, telephone number, email, occasionally we may also hold the same contact details of a list of people who are part of a members group, this will be to support a member and share information on their behalf.

The Neighbourhood Network holds your data by means of a hard copy of the original registration form of which the details will then be added to our database and website CRM to enable the sending of the weekly newsletters.  Hard copies are kept in a lockable filing cabinet with the database and website CRM requiring a secure password. 

On occasion the Neighbourhood Network will share member information with community safety partners, which include Humberside Police, Hull City Council, Humberside Fire & Rescue, National Neighbourhood Watch Network or other members of the Neighbourhood Network. 

Any information a member may give us will NOT be shared with anyone else or used for any other purpose than those cited above without their explicit consent.

Membership of the Neighbourhood Network can be ceased at any time along with unsubscribing to the weekly newsletter by contacting Tel: 01482 826061 or email: office@nnetwork.org.uk

For new members of the Neighbourhood Network, a new registration form has been produced with a data consent section.

Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinators

As a Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator you will have a list of members who form part of your Neighbourhood Watch group.  Some of you may have your members listed on the national Neighbourhood Watch website (www.ourwatch.org.uk) others maybe registered with the Neighbourhood Network and hold your members details on an excel spreadsheet or email address system.   National Neighbourhood Watch are advising coordinators not to be concerned. 

“Importantly we have received reassurance from the ICO that there is no need for Neighbourhood Watch to reaffirm the consent of current members for their data to be used for the purposes of communication and scheme administration by either their local Force Area/ Borough Associations, Neighbourhood Watch coordinators or Neighbourhood Watch Network (on the national Scheme Register). Going forward this consent will need to be evidenced for new members joining us.
