As part of Operation Ignition, the continuing operation which is tackling criminal and antisocial behaviour in Hull city centre, police have so far made 107 arrests, issued 249 dispersal orders, and carried out 229 searches.
Inspector Craig Mattinson from Hull Community Policing team said: “As part of Operation Ignition we are dealing day-to-day with the individuals who cause problems in the city centre.
“The responses we have had from businesses and from members of the public have been good, and they are pleased that our officers are continuing to work hard to make a difference in the centre of Hull.
“We have two police constables and two police community support officers who work the city centre beat every day. That’s four dedicated officers who are on patrol around the clock.
“Antisocial behaviour can be intimidating and is unacceptable for us all, and we are listening and we are acting.
“We’re constantly gathering intelligence and information, and we are also using the dispersal order powers that we have in other parts of Hull.
“The evidence we’ve gathered has shown that the individuals we know and deal with are not going to other parts of the city and causing problems elsewhere.
“We are making sure they’re having contact with the appropriate support agencies and service providers so they can get the help they need.”
