Hull’s Vulcan Learning Centre upscales to meet demand with their Food parcels

Each week via our e-newsletter the NN Team are trying to showcase the amazing work going on in Hull in response to Covid-19. This week we are pleased to showcase the efforts of NN member Vulcan Learning Centre and how they are making a massive difference to the lives of Hull residents.

Vulcan Learning Centre has seen a massive growth in their food parcel offerings since the outbreak of the coronavirus. The Centre which houses a host of activities for young people which includes educational courses, personal training sessions, active youth projects, an allotment and a boxing club, has also been a major support for residents across the city when it comes to food parcels. They are now playing a vital part in supplying residents across Hull food parcels in these difficult times.

They are now classed as one of the key services in Hull delivering over 6 days a week, often up to 200 parcels a day. They have a team of staff and volunteers supported by the Maverick Stars Trust, Two Ridings Foundation, Comic Relief, Real Aid, Community Payback and the Lottery.

The Vulcan Centre receives two large deliveries of food a day from Fareshare, sometimes up to 20 ton of food and distributes it immediately.

They are currently working with the social services, a large number of local schools, several care homes, the NHS, several GP practices, Renew and Humbercare of which the list is expanding. A great effort by everyone involved.

Members of the public can receive a parcel by contacting them on 01482 229230. If you require any further information please don’t hesitate to give them a call.
