We would like to highlight one of our members doing some fantastic work within the community.
The Trafalgar Centre is situated on Compass road and was set up in 2009 to be used and enjoyed by the people who live in the area. They provide a safe and friendly place for people to socialise, where people can seek reassurance and advice from local services such as the council and the local police team. They also provide additional services such as a weekly library with a huge selection of books.
During the pandemic they have really pulled some great community initiatives together to look after the most vulnerable within the neighbourhood. Recently they have issued a number of two way radios around the estates. These have been given to people who will act as wardens, they were chosen because they have been active in safeguarding the community in the past. During the first lockdown they were quick in adopting a ‘Card System’ where every house had been given two cards 1 Red and 1 Green. The household were asked to display the green card at all times. If they needed help then they were asked to place the red cards in the window and a volunteer would safely go and offer help.
They have many new ideas to relieve isolation and loneliness within the community. Take a look at their website for more information and updates trafalgarcentre.co.uk
