13th February 2023Holiday Fraud – the signs to spot

At this time of year we can often be found scanning the internet for a good deal on a bit of holiday sun but unfortunately there are many scammers out there promising us deals on cheap holidays and flights that simply aren’t real.
Very often there are parts to the holiday that just don’t exist. Whilst many accommodation providers using online booking websites are genuine, very often fraudsters will use these platforms to fraud victims by advertising counterfeit accommodation.
As with many other types of fraud you should always be suspicious of anything that seems too good to be true and trust your intuition. Be wary of anyone that is offering accomodation or tickets that are unusually cheap or someone that is asking for a very high deposit.
It is always wise to spend lots of time doing your research on the holiday provider and do plenty of research on review websites, even checking to see if the address of the accomodation actually exists.
ALWAYS check that the website your on is legitimate and there are no changes within the domain name from page to page.
When booking a holiday please try and pay using a credit card where possible as there is more of a chance that you will be re-imbursed if something did go wrong.
