12th August 2021A successful Beverley races ladies day

Yesterday (Wednesday 11 August) officers were attendance Beverley Racecourse and Beverley town centre for the return of the annual even Ladies Day following the easing of covid restrictions.
Superintendent Jo Roe leading on the policing of the event said: “Firstly, I’d like to thank the Racecourse staff and Beverley Town Centre Licensees for their partnership working which led to a very successful and enjoyable day for all who attended at the races for Ladies Day yesterday.
“It was pleasant natured day and the 7000 people who attended were out to enjoy the return of the annual event which sadly had to be postponed last year due to the global pandemic.
“A total of 19 police officers and special constables were on duty during the day and night working at the racecourse and the town on foot patrol for maximum visibility and to ensure that everybody remained safe. As a result only one person, a 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly and remains in police custody at this time.
