Advice following theft in Hull city centre – man charged

Following an incident yesterday in Hull where a woman had her purse stolen in broad daylight from a city centre restaurant, police are issuing advice to prevent similar thefts from happening.

The incident occurred in McDonald’s on Jameson Street around 7.45am.

Humberside Police officers investigated this, arrested and have now charged a 43-year-old man in connection with the incident.

Darren Teague from Beverley Road in Hull has been charged with theft and is due to appear at Hull Magistrates Court today Friday 11 January.

Police are still searching for another man in connection with this and are appealing to anyone who may have any information to contact us.

Quote reference 16/13173/19.

Police want to remind people to look after their possessions and be vigilant when in public places to prevent opportunist thieves from taking advantage.

Never leave valuables unattended, always keep them where you can see them, and if there are places to secure, for instance, a handbag or coat then please use them.

Keep an eye on mobile phones too. They’re small, easy to steal, and can be worth a lot of money so are an easy target for thieves.
