Officers were immediately deployed to the scene and since the incident have been conducting extensive lines of enquiry to understand exactly what happened.
Detective Superintendent Iain Pottage leading the investigation said:“Whilst thankfully nobody sustained any injuries as a result of the incident and they remain rare in our area, I understand the concern and shock this will have caused local residents.
“Over the course of the last two days, detectives have been conducting extensive lines of enquiry including reviewing CCTV, house to house and expert area searches.
“At this stage of our investigation, I am now in a position to release the map (pictured below) and would like to appeal directly to those who live or where driving in the area on River Grove, Lakeside Grove, Priory Grove and Hessle Road who may have CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage between 3.30pm and 5pm on Thursday 20 July to please contact us.
“I would encourage anyone who has any concerns or any information which they feel may help with our enquiries, to please speak to one of the officers who are in the area to provide reassurance. You can also contact us on our non-emergency number 101, quoting log 336 of 20 July.”
