Attempted murder in Hull – man detained in France

A 19-year-old man has been detained by French officers in Paris in connection with a suspected attempted murder in Hull last night.

Police received a number of reports around 4.30pm on Wednesday 12 December that a 43-year-old man riding a bicycle had been seriously hurt near the retail park on Mount Pleasant.

It was alleged he’d been run over by a car.

The victim is still receiving treatment in hospital for chest injuries. His injuries are serious but not thought to be life threatening.

Following initial investigations authorities received information that a suspect had boarded a train to Paris where he was picked up at the other end by French officers.

The man will be brought back in due course to be questioned by Humberside Police detectives.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw what happened or who may have dashcam or CCTV footage of the incident to come forward.
