Breathing technique for coronavirus symptoms and anxiety

A doctor has shared a breathing technique which could help ease symptoms of coronavirus.

Dr Sarfaraz Munshi, an urgent care lead at Queen’s Hospital, posted a video on social media that shows a way people can use deep breathing to help relieve the symptoms of the coronavirus disease.

He explains that a colleague of his – Sue Elliot, a director of nursing – uses the technique a lot with patients in the hospital’s intensive care unit.

Research into COVID-19 has shown it to have a large impact on the lungs, with many people with the virus suffering from shortness of breath and persistent coughing.

Dr Sarfaraz Munshi says that it is very important for those with the infection to ensure they are taking in a good amount of air into their lungs, especially into the base of their lungs.
