The aim of this funding from WRAP is to assist surplus food redistributors in overcoming challenges that they are currently facing in obtaining surplus food from food businesses (such as retailers and food manufacturers) and distributing this to people in need or those considered vulnerable.
The Fund is currently accepting applications for:
Phase 2 for small surplus food redistributors with a deadline of 4 June 2020 (1pm).
This £1 million grant scheme is open to micro-to-small sized not-for-profit organisations that currently operate food redistribution activity. Grants of between £5,000 and £10,00 are available for capital and revenue costs.
Phase 3 for medium-to-large-scale operations with a deadline of 21 May 2020 (1pm).
Existing not-for-profit surplus food redistributors currently operating in England can apply for a grant of up to £50,000. Applicants must have a genuine need for public funding support to assist them in overcoming any additional challenges as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. They should not be paying for the food or selling it to onward end beneficiaries. The food should be sourced from food businesses, not existing food redistributors.
