Description

Grants are available for voluntary organisations working in the criminal justice system in England and Wales to support their vital work through the winter with particular interest in BAME-led and focused organisation and those delivering specialist services for people with protected characteristics.

Value Notes

A total of £143,500 is being made available.

Grants will range from £3,000 to £5,000.

No organisation will be granted more than £10,000.

All funding must be spent by 31 March 2021.

Extended Description

The COVID-19 Winter Support Grants scheme is administered by Clinks on behalf of Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) and the Ministry of Justice.

The funding is intended to support voluntary organisations in England and Wales who support people in prison, leaving prison, under license in the community, or serving a community sentence, to continue to work in the context of the COVID-19 crisis or to make adaptations for their long-term work that are necessary due to the effects of COVID-19.

The application deadline is 9am on 4 January 2021.

Key Criteria

Applications will be accepted from voluntary organisations (ie any registered charity or incorporated social enterprise):

Currently delivering services in England and Wales to support people in prison, through-the-gate, or in the community (under license or serving a community sentence) and who have been impacted financially by COVID-19.
With an existing relationship with HMPPS.
With an annual income that does not exceed £250,000.
With an up-to-date listing on Clinks’ Directory of Offender Services for the activities supported under the programme.
That agree to assess the benefits of the grant to their beneficiaries and submit a short report at the end of the programme.
