8th December 2025Ever wondered what goes into training for Special Constables?

New Year, new volunteering opportunity!
Have you ever fancied volunteering as a Humberside Police Special Constable?
A mix of ages, from all walks of life, with different backgrounds, passions, careers, and aspirations, over the past three months this year’s cohort of student volunteer police officers have been building the confidence, knowledge and skills they’ll need to make an impact in the communities in which they will be deployed to in just a couple of weeks.
During this time, they have had a mix of blended learning, taking part in online and classroom sessions, as well as putting what they’ve learnt into practice in a series of roleplay scenarios on weekends and weekday evenings.
Not only this, but they have already been out and about in the community too, recently hand-delivering 20 boxes to AgeUK as part of their recent Shoebox Appeal.
Applications have now reopened and whilst we’re on the search for our next cohort of volunteer police officers, we spent a couple of hours with the latest students to find out more.
