Arts Development have supported singers from Freedom Chorus to continue singing through the Covid-19 pandemic via digital means. To minimise risks, singers are not meeting to sing together in person, but are using technology to do the next best thing.
A group of singers supported by Arts Development have come together in isolation to sing together apart. Their specially written song for Christmas 2020, ‘Light of a Guiding Star’, has been specially written to be sung by singers in Hull and Freetown, Sierra Leone, this Christmas, with a reminder that although we may not be together this year we are lit by the same stars. Freedom Chorus members will be singing together by digital means – recording and filming themselves in isolation – as the pandemic still limits what is possible and safe in the real world.
Each individual recording is stitched together into a whole film which is due to be released on 19 December via the Freedom Chorus Facebook page
Further information about the Chorus including films from the two previous virtual choir projects this year, is available on the Freedom Chorus page on the Council’s website here.
