1st June 2021Hessle Road Network seek Youth & Community worker
Hessle Road Network is a charity based in the Hessle Road area of West Hull. They are looking to recruit a Full Time Youth and Community Worker. The primary aim of the post is to work with young people and the wider community to provide a range of activities which encourage personal and social development.
The main duties are (this list is not exhaustive):
- Develop relationships and communication channels with service users.
- Offer 1-2-1 support sessions to address identified needs e.g. housing, benefits, employment etc.
- Deliver detached/outreach work, regularly assessing impact/needs and responding effectively.
- Develop and deliver sessions/workshops aimed at improving service user’s knowledge and understanding of relevant issues e.g. sexual health, domestic abuse awareness, employability and mental health.
- Develop and support service user’s voice and influence.
- Develop and deliver accredited work.
- Develop and deliver projects within the community.
- Plan, organise and promote activities within and outside of the project base, ensuring all relevant Health and Safety documentation is in place in accordance with Hessle Road Network policies and procedures.
- Promote and encourage personal and social development and empower service users by working with individuals and groups.
- Identify service user’s needs, respond effectively and liaise with specialist agencies in order to address these.
- Planning, monitoring and evaluation of sessions.
- Responsibility for reporting project progress and specific issues directly to senior staff and co-ordinating a response.
- Develop networks and promote/publicise the project to a range of statutory, private and voluntary sector organisations.
- Responsibility for promoting and publicising the project to the community.
Essential experience/qualifications/skills for this role:
- Experience of youth and/or community work
- Experience of liaising with a range of agencies and organisations
- Experience of planning, monitoring and evaluation
- GCSE A*-C in English and Maths or equivalent
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to use a computer and software
- Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise work
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to produce and disseminate information in relevant formats
- Organisational skills
- Understanding of issues within the community
- Committed to the aims and objectives of the Hessle Road Network
- Ability to attend meetings and work weekends and evenings
- To maintain a positive working attitude
- Ability to work with conflicting demands
- Flexibility to cover for sickness/absence/holiday across the project at short notice
This post is eligible for an Enhanced DBS check with barred lists check.
