Hull: Alcohol and cigarettes seized

Police have responded to concerns raised by local residents and businesses along Beverley Road regarding antisocial behaviour and alcohol-related crime, a week of action was arranged.

The Hull West community policing team, Humberside Police licensing department and community safety unit worked alongside Hull City Council, Immigration, HMRC and the DVLA to tackle the problem.

Over the last week, over 50 hours of high visibility foot patrols have been completed and officers have been available to speak with the local community at our street surgeries.

Alcohol has been seized from anyone acting in an antisocial manner. Several licensed premises were visited and a number of breach of licensing conditions were identified and are being progressed.

A large quantity of suspected illegal cigarettes have been seized, premises searched and a vehicle recovered. Parking issues were tackled and a crime reduction survey completed for any additional recommendations to make the area safe.

Some of the issues are challenging, however the results from this week alone are very positive and a step in the right direction to making our communities safer and stronger.
