Welcoming the stranger

At this forum they will be exploring how the teachings and traditions of our faiths influence whom we regard as strangers and how we react to them.

This should be fertile ground for sharing beliefs and practice. It touches on some challenging issues – for example ‘Who is my neighbour’. There is also the challenge of how people translate beliefs into action.

Before opening the forum up to participants, a number of quotations from the scriptures of different faiths will be considered and some members of the committee will talk both about the teachings and traditions of their faith as well as giving practical examples of ‘welcoming the stranger’.
