31st August 2017Hull: Avenues Ward receives reports of bogus callers
Humberside Police have received reports about bogus callers operating in the Avenues Ward. Traders have visited an address claiming that the occupant needed work carrying out to their roof and chimney. Money has been exchanged but the work has not been carried out.
The Hull West Communities Policing team have organised a letter drop to a section of properties around that area warning residents of bogus callers/traders.
They have also scheduled police drop in at the Common Wealth Homes, Hartoft Road, Hull on:
Saturday 2nd September 2017 10:00 – 11:00 hours
Saturday 7th October 2017 10:00 – 11:00 hours
Bogus callers tend to work in pairs or even teams. They are often well organised. Some call at your door and offer to do repairs to your home or ask for urgent help. One will distract the person whilst the other searches the house for money or valuables.
If you suspect you have been a victim or have any further information about bogus callers in the area please contact the local community team on the non-emergency number 101.
