23rd May 2019Hull: Big thank you to car driver who helped officer catch wanted man

Humberside Police would like to say thank you to a helpful car driver who stopped and gave a lift to an officer who was chasing a wanted man on foot.
A PC was driving in his patrol car on Pickering Road in Hull on Monday 20 May and spotted a suspect riding a bicycle.
The cyclist rode off, and the only way our officer could follow him quickly was to get out of his vehicle and give chase on foot.
He got to Belgrave Drive before the cyclist started to get away from him. A passing car driver stopped, picked up our officer and caught up with the suspect.
Michael Leckenby, 38, from Pickering Road in Hull was arrested and was later charged with three counts of theft, two of burglary, and three of fraud dating back to January of this year.
He’s already appeared at Hull Magistrates Court and has been remanded in custody.
Humberside Police don’t know the identity of the driver so please get in touch with them so they can say a big thank you to him for his help!
This refers to log 579 of the 20 May 19.
