Following a report at 9.30am yesterday, Tuesday 29 September, of a suspicious sign in the window of a property on Cholmley Street, Hull, officers from the Hull Central Neighbourhood Team attended to discover a large cannabis grow inside the property.
More than 80 cannabis plants at various stages of growth were discovered and seized. The electrical supply was also made safe, as it is common for cultivators to tamper with their supply in order to facilitate these grows, which can be dangerous to surrounding properties.
Community Beat Manager PC Jon Hewitt said: “Cannabis grows like this one are often linked to organised crime groups, cause anti-social behaviour or put locals at risk by their dangerous use of electrics.
“This set up was a sophisticated one and I am glad to see that this has now been dismantled and cannot cause any harm to the community.
“Enquiries remain ongoing to establish those responsible.
“If you have any information to report about drugs being produced or sold in your area, I would encourage you to get in contact with your neighbourhood team, call our non-emergency number 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
